desperately in need of new style

i am wanting a change of style, i have just past shoulder length hair and a side fringe which is now grown down to about my cheek bone, i would like a trendy style without getting it cut any shorter, i was thinking a thicker, more bold fringe but in the past when ive asked for a fringe the hair dresser has said my forehead is too small!!

My parting is very much determined to stay at the side aswell, i have an appointment at toni and guys but would like to go there with some ideas but dont know what to get!

any ideas?
